Global Skills Media Project

Goal: To create a platform for you to share your knowledge and passion for social studies. This project will be an opportunity for you to research a particular topic and take on the role of a social scientist*.

*Some Social Scientists are: Anthropologist; Economist, Historian, Physical Geographer (includes cartography, which is map-making and physical attributes of the earth); Human Geographer (deals with demographics, ethnicities of a given place or location); Political Scientist; Sociologist, etc.    

Form:
     Visual Art- collage, painting, two page spread comic strip, historical memes, or 3-d model
     Video- mini-documentary, movie, music video
     Audio- song (remix/parody or original), spoken word poem, podcast (interviews, radio theater, comedy)
     Live-  play, musical performance, poetry, interactive presentation, sketch or improv comedy

*All projects require a 2 paragraph artist statement where you explain how your piece relates to a specific topic in history.

Content: You can take one article from your summer assignment and incorporate/relate it to your global skills media project as well as choosing any topic you learn in 9th grade Global History. You should explore meaningful and relevant topics. You also may want to consider the following questions:

     Why do we study history?
     How does history connect to today?
     What is the significance of your topic?
     How would your selected social scientist categorize evidences they have discovered in your summer reading text and/or 9th grade global content on from the basis of their field of study?

Due Date: Your teacher will determine the specific due date, however it should be before each of the Social Studies Fair dates (January and May) if you want to present your work there.
